Sewing for dolls has been an almost life-long hobby. My mother taught me to sew on her Singer treadle sewing machine when I was ten years old. Using her box of fabric scraps, I made a quilt for my dolls.
When my sisters and I received a Tammy doll for Christmas, I used my allowance to buy my first doll clothes pattern. It was Simplicity 4883 and the original cost was 50 cents.
We had the best-dressed dolls in our neighborhood on Park Avenue in Greenwood Indiana. Soon, I was making doll clothes to sell to our friends. I really didn't sew for dolls too much after that until my oldest daughter received her first Barbie doll.
I will be selling my collection of doll clothes patterns along with many other dolls and doll items. Since my husband retired, I don't spend as much time sewing.
