A palindrome is a word/phrase/sentence that reads the same when read forward or backward. It comes from the Greek ‘palin dromo’ which means to run back again.

Today's date is a unique palindromic date because it is the same backwards or forwards using eight digits.  It is the first global palindrome date in more than 900 years. This means it's the same in both the MM/DD/YYYY format and the DD/MM/YYYY format.  It is the only time this will occur in this century.

The last time that happened was in 909 years ago 11-11-1111.  The next time it will happen is in 12-12-2121.

Pretty Cool!
